Anyone come across a silversmith named "Morphy" working around 1840. Making flatware marked with pseudo hallmarks and MORPHY ?

Hi Paul,
We have a few Murphys working in the mid nineteenth, they all seem to use a first initial in their marks and spell with U.
Any luck looking amongst Irish provincial makers?

Hello Tom,

This is a real oddity. It is definitely “MORPHY”. It is not in any of my references, but I suspect it may be Canadian.

Hello Paul.

There was a Edward M. Morphy located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
In business at least as early as 1847 and up to 1897.
