Please help me ID this mark

I have a candleabra with the stamp of an S surrounded by a diamond/square pattern. It reminds me of the S that Superman has on the front of his costume. Does anyone know it? I've looked at all the listings and can't seem to find it.

I can only offer a couple of possibilities.

1) Schweitzer Silver Corporation, Brooklyn, New York. Mid 20th century.
Produced sterling holloware.

2) D.S. Spaulding, Mansfield, Massachusetts. 1st quarter of the 20th century.
Used an "S" in a diamond mark on silverplated items.
