I need help identifying the maker of this spoon

Postby Aliana » Sun May 20, 2007 1:01 am

Unfortunately, my camera will not photograph the hallmarks, but they are as follows, left to right:

Chalice in a cup; right facing lion; anchor in a shield; Capital "G" in an octagon shield - G is an old English style script; Pat 1915 Sterling; Capital E in a six sided stamp.

There is a maker or seller's imprint of "B. K. & Co." in a lighter script than the hallmarks - I thought this might possibly be the seller of this piece, as it looks like it was printed after the piece was hallmarked.

Thank you so much to anyone who can help with this piece.

Unfortunately, a photograph would be very helpful in this case. The lion, anchor and G mark sound like those used by the Gorham company. The additional marks are somewhat confusing, however. B. K & Co. is likely a retailers mark; I don't recognize the mark, but perhaps others will.

Also, can you please tell us what the item is.

Sorry-I now notice that the title of your posting indicates that it is a spoon. A photo of the spoon may help, as we may be able to identify the pattern.

need help identifying spoon

Thank you for you help in ID this spoon - I think you are right - I looked up the Gorham marks and there they were. The only one missing was the chalice in a cup shape. I also found the pattern, Cellini, once I knew the maker.

This was a wonderful help. Thank you again. Aliana
