Whiting dish w Grape pattern- what does number 112 mean?

Postby Traceylina » Wed Apr 04, 2007 7:01 pm

Hello,

I am investigating a small Whiting dish which I have come to identify through various websites as decorated in the "Grape" pattern. The maker's mark is Whiting (found in Rainwater's Encyclopedia). The word "sterling" is also impressed, and below this is the number 1 1 2. With the first 1 appearing further away from the other two numbers. There does not appear to be any symbol below the numbers as is stated in the Rainwater book. Does anyone know what these numbers mean? I saw on this website that there is a section on "US mechanical patent numbers" and "US design patents." Do these numbers correlate to either list?

Thank you!

Tracey

(I have a photo of the impressed numbers but I cannot seem to get it to attach to this message- sorry)[/url]

How to Add Images

Hi Tracey.
The number 112 is just a catalog or inventory number. Does not have anything to do with patent numbers.
