Please help with country of origin and date of the following coin silver makers: J. L. Smith, E. R. Spear & CO, Haddock Lincoln & Foss.

John L Smith is listed in Middletown, Connecticut in 1850 as a jeweler. He was born in Ireland in about 1797. I didn't try to trace his career. E R Spear & Co was Edward R Spear's business in Rockland, Maine which apparently began in 1854. Initially the family were book and stationary merchants.
