It does look similar, but my markings seem to have something "extra" going on - mostly at the top. Do you think it is a stamping issue?

I agree; there is a little extra going on there at the top of the mark. Maybe if you can show the entire piece, someone will recognize it as a La Pierre product. As it is, if the item were my own, I wouldn't be looking too far beyond La Pierre as a manufacturer.
