Toronto Plate Co. Dish

Postby rush2112 » Wed Dec 07, 2011 8:42 pm

Looking for opinions on this Toronto Plate Company scalloped dish. Doesn't appear to be plated but looks more like something made in a cast mold. Inside is engraved with design and is still a brilliant silver color where it was incised. Very heavy and has turned greyish black. Appears to have a hammer taken to it at one time. German siler or coin silver?

Hi,

Your image is too small to make out, but if it's not marked 'Sterling' or '925', then it's safe to assume that your item is plated.

Thanks for the replies. After some research I am guessing it's some kind of white metal. In the company advertising, they offer silverplate and white metal. It doesn't appear to be plated so I am guessing white metal or possibly german silver.
