What is the "C " mark?

Postby deeadele » Tue Dec 06, 2011 8:30 pm

Can anyone tell me what the "C" with the line thru it means. The hallmark I can not get a clear picture on but looks like Gorhams.

I should also stated that it clearly is marked sterling under the makers mark. If that helps anyone. I will keep searching!

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

As there has been no response to your question, then perhaps a clearer image of the mark may help. A photo of the whole piece may also be of assistence.

Trev.

I thought that was probably a Gorham mark in your image. Here is a table that should answer your question: http://www.925-1000.com/Gorham_Date_Code.html

I think your spoon is in the multi motiff pattern Versaille.

As it states on the chart, Gorham used dating on hollowware, not flatware. The C is probably just the mark of some forgotten dealer.
