Oak Leaf

Postby bound » Sun Dec 18, 2005 8:05 am

I was wondering if anyone knows the maker who uses an oakleaf as their hallmark. I know i have found it before, but currently having no luck and getting frustrated. Thank you in advance.

I apologize if this posting appears twice; I think I made a mistake posting it before, but I am not positive.

There are two companies that use an oak leaf that I know of; Hawthorne Manufacturing used an oak leaf with an H in the middle. Charter Company, which made reproductions of colonial silver, used an oak leaf surrounded by a stylized "square" C.

Both marks are found in Rainwater's Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers.

Hope it helps!
