Hello, looks like the mark of the metal workshop of the arts and crafts school "Burg Giebichenstein" in Halle, Germany. This cup seems not to have been documented so far, though quite a few books have been published on the school. The school still exists and has an archive. On their homepage

one can see a version of this mark. A transcription of the text on the cup might help, too. Best wishes, Bahner

Dear Bahner. Thank you so much for the information on the silver mark.You were correct I have looked at the web site @ the archive site.I believe the chalice was made in 1936 but do not know who the silversmith was. I would love to know who it was but do not know how to get that information. The first part of the inscription is as follows: Wirke Gutes du Nah-Rest der Menschheit Gottliche Pflanze Bilde Shones du Streust Keime des Gottlichen Aus. Hello , that is a quote from German writer Friedrich Schiller "Wirke Gutes, du nährst der Menschheit Göttliche Pflanze; bilde Schönes, du streust Keime des Göttlichen aus". All those diphtongs ....
Head of the metal workshop 1923-1958 was Karl Müller (b. 1888, d. 1972). He designed many of the objects. There were several craftsmen at the workshop who excuted Müller's designs and also executed their own designs. Without further info one can only guess. Best wishes, Bahner
