Unknown Silver Hallmark: K - Neptun Fork - S + 925

Postby silberdosen » Fri Aug 10, 2007 4:37 am

Hello,

I just got an enamelled cigarette case on which I want to identfy the maker (and the country of origin).
It is just hallmarked on the back shell:

K - icon of a Neptun's Fork - S in a rhombus hallmark and '925' in a rectangular hallmark (sorry have no photo handy so far), it looks a bit like: K Y S [925]

Does any one has a clue?!?

Best regards and thanks in advance
Rainer

Hello, hard to tell without a pic. Might be a contemporary French maker or German maker Karl Schwitzgaebele from Stuttgart. Best wishes, Bahner

Bahner's right: Karl Schwitzgaebele, although my copy of Diebener's 1924 Yearbook (about the time the case was made, judging by her costume) has him in Pforzheim, not Stuttgart. Any idea if they when they moved, Bahner, or did they have two locations?

Hello, my mistake. I didn't look it up, just replied from memory. It's Pforzheim, not Stuttgart. Sorry. Best wishes, Bahner
