German silverbowl possibly 18th century

Postby coini » Mon Jul 02, 2007 4:12 am

I happened to found a silver bowl from an auction. I've been trying to
study the label to trace the origin of the bowl only to find out it's
from germany and it's possibly almost 300 years old. I took some
pictures of the bowl and would like to know more.

Thank you very much,

Hello, Jürst was a maker from Berlin , founded in the middle of the 19th century (1856 ? I currently don't have acess to the book on Berlin manufacturers). So the bowl is not that old. And it is not silver. Jürst made only plated articles or articles from German silver without plating. Judging from the images I would guess that the piece was made around 1900, give or take a decade. Best wishes, Bahner

Hi Bahner!

Thank you very much for a quick response. Cleared a lot and the stamp really seems to say Jürst now that you mentioned it.

Once more, thank you!
