I have a small hinged silver box - about 45x30x15mm. It is decorated with cherubs in an Italianate surrounding, with garlands round the sides.
It has several marks - including a capital 'A' topped with a crown, and a lion on it's hind legs - also topped with a crown. There is a shield with 3 blobs that could be sheaves of wheat - but it doesn't look quite like the Chester marks.
I've had it researched by 'experts' at a local auction house, but the best they can come up with is 'possibly Dutch'. This may be true - it was my mothers, and she was part Dutch (by way of New York).
Any clues gratefully received!
