Hello, well - we have all sorts of cake in Germany (maybe cake is not the correct translation - sorry, English is not my mothertongue). One could not serve the softer ones with this, of course. But something like "Marmorkuchen" can easily be cut into slices and served as such, without breaking or crumbling the slices. As to its age: anything betweeen 1900 and the 1930ies. Best wishes, Bahner
