Silver? Figures

Postby helene54 » Sun Dec 31, 2006 3:05 pm

Please could anyone assist with the identification of these two figures. The marks appear to be identical however one (not shown) is less clear.
Thanks in advance

hello,
this must be the hallmark of Ludwig Neresheimer & Co/ Hanau /Germany. Production Date : end of 19th century. At Hanau often old Hallmarks, int his case the Augsburg Hallmark, were used in a modified kind.
Happy new year

Firstly, thanks for your speedy response!
But does anyone know what they are used for? We think they might be card or letter holders.
We found these while renovating the loft in our home. The original owners were of German extraction named Jager who resided here for 75 years.

The figures are around 170mm tall and the base is 130mm wide
Here is a rear view, where you can see that the female figure has a clip (the one on the male figure appears to have been broken off)

Again, many thanks for your help and happy new year!

I believe the BM sponsors mark was used by British importer Berthold Mueller.

Pat.
