Good evening
I thought this was a plated spoon but after polishing the marks I thought were base metal showing through disappeared. It is marked with a rooster, B and WILM. I am not sure from where it could be.
Dankie

Spoon with Rooster mark
Re: Spoon with Rooster mark
Hello, rooster - seriously ? I must say... This is of course the Berlin bear with a letter for the first warden and the B of the the second warden. Wilm would be the famous Berlin family of jewellers, gold- and silversmiths. Regards from Berlin, Bahner

Re: Spoon with Rooster mark
Hi JanGroen,
Johan Paul WILM is a famous manufacturer - the Prussian Hofjuwelier-and it was made in Berlin. The rooster is actually a bear with the letter K on its back. This is the Wardens mark. K stands for J.C.S.Kessner, 1819-1854.
The secondary Assayers mark (Probiermeister) is the B=Ch.F.Deppe, 1842-1847
The overlap of these later marks can help narrow the dating a little.
K/B=1842-1847.
Hope this helps,
malapert

Thanks you alot. Today was a weird day at market. Bought 3 objects that I thought were plated and now they all turn out to be silver.malapert57 wrote:Hi JanGroen,
