H.J. & Co. Tea Strainer

Post by hpidaves »

I can't seem to find this maker -- H.J. & Co.

I believe the piece is silverplate.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

It's silver.

Johann Heinrich Albrecht Janssen of Hamburg.

Thank you Trev!

When you say it is silver, you mean solid silver? If so, would that be 800?

Thanks,
Dave

I think 13 Loth (812/1000)was the popular standard, but wait for for someone better qualified in German silver to confirm/deny.

Hamburg standard was 12 Lot at that time as in most of the northern towns of Germany, in the south you find mainly 13 Lot.
