possibly Dutch mark 1903

Post by populous38 »

Hi Guys, silver jug weighs about 338g. Has these marks - sorry, not the sharpest. I am told they are Danish 1903. I'm sure I have seen the likes somewhere but I can't find anything similar now.
Any ideas?
Appreciated as always. Gary

Sorry, the hallmarks are upside down and it's beyond my ability to turn them up the other way

Hi Gary,

Are there no other marks? I'm wondering where the 1903 came from?

If there are no other marks, then 800/1000 is more likely.

Hi,
F stands for foreign, used until 1904. There should be one more mark; sponsor`s mark (importer). For example, BM is often found on imported Hanau silver with BM for Berthold Mueller who who distributed a lot of Hanau silver.

Hi,
Known London importer Joseph Abraham Yager (J.A.Y), registered 1904, exactly the period when import from Hanau is expected.
