Silver sugar box

Last year I bought a nice sugar box that I think is made of silver. The only hallmark I can find is the number 12, which I presume stands for 12 loth. Could it be of German origin?

Hi,
12 Loth (.750) was used in Austria-Hungary Empire and Germany. When it is found with town mark and maker's mark, more precise attribution is possible.Otherwise, your Zuckerdose i.e.sugar box included, with 12 being the only mark, it is practically impossible to tell more than ``Austria or Germany``.My experience with 12 Loth: more common in certain parts of Germany and provincial Austria - Hungary. The style and craftsmanship of your Zuckerdose is late Biedermeier, i.e. mid 19th century.
Regards

Thank you for taking your time. Bought it at an internet auction in Sweden and was hoping to find more hallmarks when I unpacked it. That was not the case.
