Big compote spoon German

Post by silverfan »

This big and heavy spoon (25,2 cm long) is marked 800, halfmoon, crown, a square with point and then C.W.W & G.
Does anybody know what the letters mean? I think the square could point to Hamburg!?

Hi,
"Mond Krone, Raute mit Punkt, (crescent crown, square with dot)"
Compare with the logo of HSV (Hamburger Sport Verein).
Carl Wilhelm J. Pape, from Friesack, in Prussian Kingdom, received his concession nr. 88 on 27 June 1858 as a silversmith. On 31 December 1865 (?) he become member of new founded Hamburg Gold and Silversmith Corporation.

Hamburg retailer C.W. Wilcke & Joh. Gierth, active until some time after WWI.
