Identify german hallmarks

Post by ErwinSnellen »

Hello,

I have 2 spoons with (I think) a makersmark and city mark. I think it is Naumburg in Germany. Can somebody tell me more about these spoons? When they were made, may be some information about the maker.

Hello, actually this is the city mark of Striegau, Silesia. IAL is J.A. Lemor from Breslau, for a while around the middle of the 19th century pieces made by him appear with the marks of smaller Silesian cities, probably because they were sold there and so assayed by the local guild rather than the Breslau guild. Regards, Bahner

Thank you for your interesting response. Is this city mark the official city mark of Striegau, Silesia or is this a city mark of the smaller towns where J.A.Lemor sold his products? Is there documentation of this city mark or this makersmark online or in books?
