Pair of candleholders help in mark identification

Post by cathycat »

Hello,

I am trying to identify the marks of this pair of candleholders, height 24 cm.
Going by he style the are probably made around 1800.
One mark is shaped like a leaf and the other one looks a bit like the "Pyr", the pine cone that was used on early Augsburg silver.
It´s not Augsburg probably and I don´t think these two marks are Pseudo Hanau marks, because only on one candleholder they are right next to each other, on the other one the marks are on two different sides.
And they don´t look like they are factory made.

Any help to identify these marks and the origin of the candleholders would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

It is not Augsburg.

No, it is not Augsburg.
The mark just looks a bit like the early Augsburg pine cone without the date letter.
But the candleholders are definitely old, 200 years i guess.
Why should anybody should copy a mark like that in those days..?
And what do you mean with „fake“ ?
And it is not Hanau silver neither. I know what Neresheimer Schleissner & Co were producing.
These candleholders are just too simple in design and theylook like they are handmade.

I am very puzzled and I was hoping that somebody might know the marks, and even that you might them in your data files.....
