Help needed with german spoon (from Bremen ?)

Postby dinio » Tue Oct 31, 2006 7:28 pm

Hi,

I have a coffee spoon which measures 15 cm long and I believe it to be from Bremen (according to the German hallmarks page on this site). I am a bit puzzled because the key is opposite to what is shown in the web page, but I have no best guess.
Could anybody confirm this hypothesis and help in identifying the maker in order to get a right estimate of the age ?

Here is the front of the spoon:

Here is the back:

And here are the hallmarks:

Thanks in advance for your help

Hello and congrats - rare piece. This is not from Bremen, it is from the city of Stade in northern Germany. Stade also has a key as a mark. Maker is Hinrich N. C. Krull, born 1790, died 1867. Active in Stade since 1819. This spoon may have been made anytime between 1819 and 1867. The museum in Hamburg-Altona used to own a spoon much like that, with exactly these marks. Best wishes, Bahner.
