Augsburg alleged set of marks ?

Postby dinio » Tue Oct 03, 2006 3:28 pm

Hello,
This is a silver item whose seller told me that it is from Augsburg, 19c.

It is a decorative spoon with three marks.
The first one refers to the silver purity (13 loth.)
The second one could be a city mark for Augsburg
The third one could be a date letter

Is this set consistent ? Does it fit the spoon style ?

I would appreciate some help.
Thanks
Dinio

Here is the spoon :

and the marks on the back of the spoon:

The last mark - "n" - is not a date letter, but the trademark of Ludwig Neresheimer & Co. of Hanau, Germany, with a faux Augsburg mark. Your spoon likely dates from the early 20th century. Try searching this forum for "Hanau" for more information.

Thanks a lot for your very helpful answer. I will try to learn more about Hanau productions.
