Unknown mark from Germany (?) ca. 1750 (?)

Postby Stantheman » Thu Apr 26, 2018 9:07 am

Hello! I came across this pair of candlesticks. I tried to identify silver marks but I didn't get it yet. They are not clear which doesn't help. There are just two marks on each of the candlesticks.
One mark (on the right hand side) looks a bit like a bird ? standing on tall feet (heron or stork bird ?) but it's just a guess. The other mark... I have no clue what it resembles. Are these letters or something else? Actually I don't even know which one is the city mark and which one is maker's mark.
The candlesticks look like coming from mid XVIII cent. central Europe - Germany or its neighbours (Austria, Switzerland?).
Maybe anyone of you saw that marks ad will be able to help me. Thanks!

Thank you, Teodorich. I've never seen Schaffhausen silver mark. So I have no clue. But anyway thank you for your suggestion. Kind regards!

You will find some hallmarks in Rosenberg³ Band 4 page 539 #8946
but you will not find the makersmark in Rosenberg
