I can't identify this maker

Postby meperry57 » Wed Feb 28, 2018 6:21 pm

I purchased this box and found this mark on the side. I've checked the usual sources and can't find it.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Your images are too small for identification. Please try again.

Still looking myself and came across (on your site) Hermann Bauer , but it doesn't have the Germany marks. Could it be?

Hi,
Yes,it is Hermann Bauer (Schwäbisch Gmünd).Crescent and crown mark is not compulsory.
The company Hermann Bauer was founded in 1863 and is still active.

Hermann Bauer was born in Heilbronn in 1833 and had to support his family at an early age due to the early death of his father. After training as a steel engraving apprentice, he expanded his knoledge in Holland, London and Paris, before he founded the silverware factory in 1863.
