Hello All,
There is a nice snuff box.

The silver fineness mark is 800.

I can't identify the silver hallmark, and the maker's mark.
For any help I would be very grateful.
Thank you!
Gerox

Hi Gerox
can we have the marks from a few other angles, and clearer?
Thank you, Jörg

Hi Joerg,
extremely difficult there exactly in the corner of the hinge.

Here again 2 pictures, better I can not get out.
Otherwise I have to try it again in sunlight.
The maker's mark looks like "HS"
The sign directly on the hinge looks like a shield with a crown.
Thanks Gerox

Hi Gerox,
Everything about this box suggests Simon Rosenau of Bad Kissingen (Hanau, Germany) to me. Makers mark SR under a crown. Check out :

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Joerg, Hi Steve,
thanks for the hint but it is not Simon Rosenau.
Have again cleaned and photographed.

right beside the 800 a upright lion, walking to the right.

to the left of the 800 the maker's mark, relatively clearly "H.S"

To the left of the maker's mark next to the hinge is a mark, looks like a sign above with a winged wheel or a winged star, bears a little resemblance to the sign of Vereinigte Silberwarenfabriken AG - Düsseldorf.

would be great if someone could interpret this.
best regards
Gerox

Hi Gerox, there's nothing to interprete, its very typical Simon Rosenau (as Steve already informed), cast silver, good and heavy quality, the crowned SR (in your case badly struck, only the typical "S" and part of the shield and "R" readable. Typical Hanau bit "fake marking", adding something for dreaming of a much older piece. If you are browsing the net "Simon Rosenau pictures", you will find dozens of examples of the marking and similar style!
best regards
Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang,
Hi Steve,
Thanks for your fast, profound and much appreciated answer.
You're right it's probably Simon Rosenau. Here's the 800 hit over the crown. My mistake I had the master mark interpreted as H.S, but if I turn the picture, then you're completely right.
Thanks again, and best regards
Gerox
