Hello All. My thought is that this is a German town Mark and Maker, but I was not able to find the mark on Silberpunze website, but I may have missed it. Perhaps it is not German, but possibly Italian. Very Large Ladle, near 18 inches. Any help is appreciated. Thank You in advance.

it is german silver and was made in the city Luebeck (I end of the 18th century or about 1800).

The makers mark is very interesting. In Luebeck the several silver workshops has got numbers and different signs (for instance crown, sun, star, anchor etc.) One of this workshops signs was the "Wilde Mann" ("Wild man").

Not seldom this workshops signs was intigrated in the makers mark, like in this case.

But sadly I do not know a maker with the initials "CW" or "GW".

There are two masters wich come into consideration, but I think it is another unknown master:
Christian August Westphal (worked from 1793-1821, his mark was "CAW") and Jochim Christian Willers (worked from 1772-1792, his mark was "ICW").
