Cristal and silver decanter with the Shaumburg Lippe crown

My aunt in Berlin has a decanter in crystal with a silver lid marked with a monogram. The monogram consists of an “A” and of what I believe to be the Schaumburg Lippe crown.
I have a few questions about the decanter which I wonder if anyone could help me answer:
- What does the silver hallmarks say, is anyone able to interpret them?
- How old could the decanter be?
- The decanter is 14,5 cm high. For what kind of liquid has it been used?
Thank you for your help!

Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
See Adolf Mogler here:
http://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_marks_a1884_7.htmlIn the UK, these are referred too as whisky noggins, but this may be an enhanced description suitable for the secondary market, see:

Corn Products Refining Company - Argo, Ill. - 1921
Please remember to keep your images to within the 7" (18cm) width limits.

Thank you very much for your answer dognose!
We had no idea that it was used for whiskey.
Looking at the hallmark link (
http://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_marks_a1884_7.html) I wonder if it could also be Theodore Muller. On this web page I just found information about another of his decanters:

Hello, typical Th. Müller stuff. Note the difference between the two "T" - with Mogler the middle line cuts right through the M, with Müller it ends where it meets the lines of the M. Regards. Bahner

Hi Bahner,
Many thanks for the correction. Another lesson learned (well hopefully!)

Thank you very much dognose and Bahner!
Do you have any idea about when it could have been made? Is 1900 a good guess?

Hello, could be a little later, say 1920ies / 1930ies. Just a gut feeling, though. No way to tell it exactly. Regards. Bahner.

Hi,
It`s duke`s crown (Herzog). But it`s difficult to identify a particular family with ``A`` and the crown.
The titled aristocracy of Germany no longer holds a legal rank after 1918 . Some maintain ducal traditions, though.
If you want to identify it, keywords should be `` Liste der Markgrafen und Herzöge``

Thank you AG2012! How do you distinguish the duke's crown from a royal crown? My guess is that it that it is the crown of Schaumburg Lippe and that "A" is for Adolf (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Ad ... burg-Lippe). Could this be possible?
Thank you also Bahner! This is the reason why I believe it to be from before 1916, when Adolf Schaumburg Lippe died.
The Schaumburg Lippe crown on the coats of arms of the principality:

Hi,
Imperial crown is completely different.Take a look here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crown_(heraldry)
Scroll down to
German-speaking countries
Or if you are familiar with German, take a look here for
Rangkronehttps://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/RangkroneIt`s really difficult to trace the family and let alone a particular monogrammed crown.

Thank you AG2012!
From what I understand however a prince (of e.g. Schaumburg Lippe) and a herzog could have a monogram with the same kind of crown. Is that correct?
