Hello, I have managed to narrow down the ladles shape to similar Georgian era ladles online. However I am unable to identify the manufacturer or country from the stamped mark shown above. I've searched for over two days now and am no closer to finding any information. I'm assuming that from the large size of the ladle that it is for soup, gravy or punch.
On the back the hand engraved cursive text says: "C.F. Casperfohn 1846" OR "C.F. Casperfobn 1845". I'm assuming that it is an old owners name.
The stamped mark is either "Kehder" or "Hehder".
Many thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer.
Best wishes,
Lizzyd

Master could be REHDER from Kiel in Germany.

Hello,
it is surely not the mark of C.C. Rehder from Kiel. He was born 1759 and could not be the maker of the Ladle! Furthermore he marked with "CCR".
Four more Goldsmithes from Rendsburg and Luetjenburg with the name Rehder are also to old or to young.
Only two goldsmithes with this name remain:
Johann Jürgen Rehder from Eckernförde (1790-1846) and Christian Heinrich Malchus Rehder (1799-1847) from Rendsburg. The first one marked with "JR", the last one with "Rehder" (but with a different mark like yours).
The ingraved family name of the donor Caspersohn (the letter wich looks like f is another letter for s) was about 1800 common in Rendsburg (may be Christine Caspersohn, born 1792).
So I think, that Christian Heinrich Malchus Rehder (1799-1847) from Rendsburg is the maker of the ladle.

Ringo

Thanks Ringo,
For your amazingly detail information. So the engraving is about a donor....excellent, it had not occurred to me.
Many thanks,
