Hello All. I have a few questions about this item.
Is the maker Joseph Wolfgang Fesenmayr? I cannot find online any pics of his mark, but this is what I was told.
What really has me stumped is, what is it? It has some type of screw sticking out of the back towards the top, and it looks as if there was one towards the bottom as well, but it has broken off.
There are also two small holes on the bottom, right and left.
I did a lot of looking on the web before turning to the Forum, and the closest thing I could find were Torah Shields or Breastplates.
The inscription on the front reads "Ex Pio Legato Anna Badenfis
Measures near 5 inches long and 4 inches wide. 31g.
Any information is greatly appreciated.

I think it was attached to a bigger object (bolts). It`s Christian (Latin inscription and the cross on top).
It was a legacy by ``dedicated (faithful, devoted) Anna Badenfis``.
There is similar phrase engraved on silver poor-box in Dutch Reformed Church in Leiden:
``Ex legato piorum Conjugum Petri Gijs viri Consularis et Mariae van den Bergh A`` 1760.
(Legacy of husband and wife).
Joseph Wolfgang Fasenmayer had different mark. I cannot identify ``F ``over ``W``.
(There is unknown maker in Rosenberg # 594, but without the image of the mark).
Fortunately, there are members of this forum with excellent knowledge of German marks.

it is the mark of Fesenmayr (Seling No. 1992, p. 473)

The ingraved name is Anna Badensis, not Badenfis ( I think it is the latin translation of Anna von Baden).

There was Joseph Wolfgang Fesenmayer who died 1712. (Rosenberg # 831)
(Standing figure mark).
I know there are variants of family names Mayer and Mayr. Could it be the same family? Or just a coincidence.

It`s Annae Badensis, then, ex ``from`` preposition with ablative case. As R ingo said ``Anna von Baden``

My mistake; married 1707 and died 1721.
Too much coincidence, but completely different mark. Or Rosenberg was wrong, after all, it`s an old edition.
