Unknown hallmark - pseudo Hanau?

Postby FrickPgh » Tue Apr 12, 2016 11:59 am

I have a silver gilt mustard pot frame with pseudo hallmarks that are very unfamiliar to me. They appear to be a crown, a lion passant facing left, and a goblet. Does anyone know the maker?

Hi,
Managed to change image codes in the meantime and embedded your images.
It`s made in Hanau by J.D. Schleissner & Söhne (red arrows to the chalice mark).

Another combination with the same mark on top.
Well documented ``sickle`` mark and ``Augsburg``.

This is quite helpful. Thank you very much for the thoughtful replies. I hadn't considered Augsburg, but the marks you shared do appear quite close to the marks on this object.

J.D. Schleissner & Söhne used various combinations of marks, ``Augsburg`` mark being one of them.I just wanted to show better image of the mark seen in your silver.

There is no doubt about J.D. Schleissner & Söhne in this particular case (your item).
