German Art Nouveau Hammered Tray Mark

Hi all!

My wife and I acquired this beautiful art nouveau German silver plated tray, but just cannot identify any maker..

It measures approx approximately 10 1/2" x 7 1/2" and has the German crown & crescent moon mark, and 800 (?) mark, along with another mark that appears to just be a circle with a dot in it?! - can't seem to find anything if this is the makers mark!

I don't suppose anyone has any ideas? It really is a stunner!

Thanks so much,

Ali & Chris

Hello, this is an incompletely struck 800 and the maker's mark of Sauerland from Berlin. Best wishes, Bahner

Hi Bahner,

Thanks so much for the info, fascinating stuff!

Can't now find many other examples of Sauerland trays- seems they made mostly flatware!

All the best,

Chris

The tray is not plated but solid silver. 800 means 800/1000 pure silver and 200/1000 mostly copper.
