ID hallmarks on European 19ct silver powder box

Postby dean_b » Sun Nov 15, 2015 5:23 pm

I ask your help in identifying these hallmarks ; box looks like a typical German work from the late 19th century (before the law from 1884), but can not determine with accuracy the hallmarks ; looks to me like 800 (purity ) , Trident or Tripod ( ? ! ) , the initials AM or AN ( ? ! ) .
Thank you in advance for your help.

Maker's mark AM in a cercle looks like the mark Adolf Mayer.

Excellent noticing a circle around the initials - bravo !
If in 1900 why does it not have German mark for purity under the law since 1884 ?!

Thx silverfan !

silverfan,
I think you're right, the symbol on the left side is not Tripod or Trident, in fact it could be improvised German crown, so when we take all into consideration should be Adolf Mayer !
