Hi,

Why do you think these spoons could be Dutch silver? I do not see any Dutch (hall) marks to support your claim and these spoons might not even been made out of silver. The dinner spoons could be made out of alpaca(German silver) see:

Hi,

To me it looks like the early silver mark of Emden in Ostfriesland.

Hi Athos,

During the Napoleonic French era, Em(b)den and the surrounding lands of East Frisia were part of the short-lived Kingdom of Holland with the city assay office mark a pair of pliers in an oval shield used 1807-1812

According to Marc Rosenberg : Emden (Hannover)

I agree it comes close but I have some doubts, I move it to the German section and I leave it for Theodrich to decide.

Best,

Oel.

Woow, thank you for this discussion. Some information: I found it in a collection of dutch silver. They said: 18th century from Holland. So I was curious what you think.

Thank you very much for this information. Nice forum!
