Josef Arnold?

Postby orthogonal » Thu Jul 17, 2014 5:00 pm

I just got my first "modern" silver, two stoppers. I don't have any information about them, but the shape reminds me of the early "Bauhaus"-era. So i looked for a german maker and found Josef Arnold, Hamburg, in this link:

"Josef Arnold" is just a guess. Is it possible to determine the maker/age/origin?

As I said in my previous requests: I really appreciate your help! As a newbie I try to find out as much as I can about my pieces, but after the first few light bulb moment I get to notice how little i still know/how much more I'd like to know.

There is no crown, no crescent. The "IA" is not in a deepened square, like here http://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_marks_a1884.html, but just ... imprinted.

Hello and yes, that is Arnold. On smaller pieces halfmoon and crown may be missing. Dating is difficult, as Arnold produced his designs for decades, so something like 1930-1950 may be correct. Congrats ! Best wishes, Bahner
