Silver photo frame, German, maybe France?

Postby sebastian4743 » Tue Dec 17, 2013 8:00 am

I have spotted in Internet an interesting photo frame. I assume it was made in Germany (crown) or France (mushroom) but have some problems with identifying the marks. Maybe a more experienced eye will have something more to say. What year could it be? Is it old or rather a reproduction?

Please advise.

Hi,

Silver photograph frame, all over raised foliate and scroll design , could be made late 19th-early 20th century, perhaps you could contact the owner and ask him the required information, otherwise we need a clear image of all marks.

Thank you Oel. I will try to get better pictures of the marks tomorrow. The frame is quite big, namely: 26 x 19cm.

Here are the silver marks of this frame.

No other marks are present. So it is German for sure but age/maker are unknown. The markings like moon, crown are done by some sort of an office? Or could they be done by the maker? As I look at these marks in 'google pictures' they look very different so I assume that every maker had its stamp.
