Gebrüder Kühn mark?

Postby Ubaranda » Wed Apr 10, 2013 2:50 am

Hi all!
Recently I bought very big (230 ml) nice cup dated by 1860. Unfortunately, the maker's mark is very small and unknown to me. I suppose it's earliest mark of Gebrüder Kühn but I don't sure.
Will be grateful for any help.

You can see the Wartburg in Eisenach.
Martin Luther translated the Bible in the Wartburg.

Hi all!
Thank you for replies. Very interesting information about Wartburg castle and Martin Luther! But Eisenach is so far from Schwäbisch Gmünd ... I'm sure my cup is from Schwäbisch Gmünd, but I'm interested about Gebrüder Kühn. Theodorich in his "Projekt Rosenberg IV" dates such hallmarks 1825-30 years. Perhaps my cup was made at that time, and later on it was affixed date "1860"?
Best regards. Alex.

The rococo ornament around the Castle is more likely to be made 1860 than 1825. In the early bidermeier the luanguage was clasisistic not rococo.
But thats only an opinion.

I think the cup is from 1860.
My little project has the weakness that the time allocation is not always right. In this case the date is a secure source. I should adjust the corresponding on my side.
