ecclesiastical (?) tray

Hi,
This tray is maybe used for purposes of the church. It has a Dutch controlmark for bigger foreign and bigger old silver used from 14-01-1814 till 1-11-1893 and a mark "12" that could mean a 12 lot-mark. No makersmark. On the backside of the tray there is an inscription (in Latin?) that is not clear to me. Is there a date? Is it German or could it be another country as well? Maybe someone knows more?
Regards,
Zilverik

Hi Zilverik,
My translation reads:
Egregio pioque Collegio RuwenbergEminet purified College Ruwenberg
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grote_RuwenbergXXV annos existenti 25 years of existents
Me donavitOffered to me (votive offering)
The Fraternity Ruwenberg started in 1851/52 and celebrated their 25 years of existents in 1876.
Regards,
Oel

Hi,
Any indication about the age of the tray with the "12" - lot mark? Is that a 19e century German or Austrian mark? Or could it also be 18e century?
Regards,
Zilverik

I think something looks wrong with the inscription.
The sentence seems written in pig Latin, (if “collegio” is the subject, it must be at nominative, not at dative case, to me must be translated in mihi , ecc.)
Furthermore the letters are conspicuously unequal, even if they seem carved by a skilled craftsman. I wonder why.
Someone knows how to give an explanation ?
Regards
Amena

I think you are reading this the wrong way round and the subject is the unidentified C.J.A.TW. My attempt at translation would be:
"C.J.A.TW gave me (the tray) to the distinguished and pious Buwenberg college on 25 years of its existence."

Hi Agphile
you're right, I did not take into account the mysterious C.J.A.TW. Your translation has resolved my first question.
