Spoon, around 1800, where is it from?

Postby Joerg » Sat May 21, 2011 4:36 pm

Dear forum members

please help me with this spoon. From the style it think it is from around 1800. I got it from a thrift shop in Aarau, Switzerland. In my previous post I have a fork with a similar city mark, also purchased in Aarau. But my reference book only show the letter A as city mark for Aarau, though the city coat shows an eagle. I have no idea what the second mark is, maybe the makers mark. I can not identify a letter or anything else. The spoon is quite worn, with cracks.

Any help or hint is welcome.

Jörg

As I mentioned in your accompanying post, this spoon is from Neuchâtel. Unfortunately, the maker's mark is very worn, but even so it does not seem to mach any Neuchâtel maker's mark I can find.

Also here thank you, Blackstone. To know the city is more than I expected.

Kind regards

Jörg
