Berlin Silver Heylandt Decanter Set

Post by zorro »

Your site is most impressive and extensive, yet this novice can not fully identify a wonderful decanter set (complete with cut glass bottles/stoppers) clearly marked "Heylandt" with a pre-1866 "A" type silver mark and Berlin bear symbol without letter (pre-1886). The Heylandt mark is the mystery to me since the Berling Heylandt Company (old Linde Group) was not formed until 1879 and the products were rockets and not silver. Any ideas?

August Eduard Heylandt (1803-1891; Master 1841). You can find a portrait of him (and his wife) at the museum in Potsdam, where he retired.

Hope this helps!
