swiss spoon

Postby paulb4 » Wed Sep 22, 2010 12:21 am

Been hesitant to put this spoon on as I am not sure if it is common and/or fake and if souvenir spoons are acceptable but here goes. Thanks

Dear paulb4

There is nothing to hesitate about, your spoon is a nice collectors item. The spoon is from Germany, after 1886. The mark on the left appears to be a half struck "moon sickle with a nose". Followed by the imerial crown, the 800 mark and the makers mark. Scrolling througt the "German Makers Mark" page I did not find this mark.
On the spoon is an early email picture of Interlaken, on the back the famous mountans "Eiger" and "Jungfrau" are visible. The spoon is definitely from before WWi, before 1914. A souvenir from the golden age of tourism.

I suggest to move it to the German section for identification of the makers mark.

Regards

Jörg
