Koch & Bergfeld, Bremen - model nr. 39343 toast rack

Hello Elena

Please look here: http://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_marks_a1884_3.html

The makers mark is at least struck twice - for that reason the Koch & Bergfeld »Fußschale« (three footed dish) is here shown in a kind of uncertainty.

But the numerical »39343« seems to me to be the model nr. - as usual on hollowware products.

Koch & Bergfeld still exist: http://www.koch-bergfeld-corpus.com/kon ... 673ef30654

Maybe you would write them an e-mail: info[at]koch-bergfeld-corpus.com

Kind regards silverport

Koch & Bergfeld, Bremen - model nr. 39343 toast rack

Hello again

Toast racks are traditionally not »flatware«, but »hollowware« items.

Koch & Bergfeld's hollowware model nr. system was start around the year 1875 with nr. 1 - and had reached end of 1932 the hollowware model nr. 82056. Sorry, more details I haven't yet.

Some where in between is settled model nr. 39343 - the clean and simple style looks like to be inspired by design items, seen from second half XIX century by Dr. Christopher Dresser, and by the new attempts of the German »bauhaus« after WWI. So I guess, the item is from about 1925.

Kind regards silverport
