German Dish?

Postby joho » Sun May 02, 2010 9:32 am

Can anyone help identify town and maker of this shell shaped dish. My initial thought was that it was from Augsburg as the one hallmark is an F below a 'pineapple'? But the stamp on the dish is shaped and the book I have shows the stamp as oval. The makers mark is CL.

Many thanks
John

Hello John

In »Rosenberg«, vol. I, p. 32, Nr. 248, this Augsburg period-mark F is noticed for 1743-1745.

In »Rosenberg«, vol. I, p. 200, Nr. 839, this Augsburg master's mark CL is noticed for: Possibly Christian Lütkens, became master 1709, died 1758.

In »Rosenberg«, vol. I, p. 229, Nr. 974, a similar Augsburg master's mark CL is noticed for an unknown master; his objects between 1765-69 are later.
