I wonder whether the A with crown can be the French charge mark for 1750-1756 but also wonder whether these are bogus marks as it is marked 930? The back of the spoon shows a foreign London import in 1900 but I can't find the WM in a diamond. So I need serious help in finding out what could be the origin of this spoon. It measures 10 3/4". Thank you in advance for any info you can give me.

Thinking it might be a Hanau item, I found that the British WM in a diamond is for William Moehring, a London importer of Hanau items, so this increases the possibility this is not French but German Hanau.

Spoon Hanau made? Maybe Yes!

Hello

You've already looked to »Hanau Marks«.

E.g. there are shown in the information on »Georg Roth & Co.« two of these:

"A" crowned
"Mans profile" in a shield (here it's turned some 150 º) - that is by »Scheffler« attributed to »Gebr. Dingeldein« (Dingeldein Bros.)

Some other example are show some of incise fineness numeral.

In a while would be published a new researched Guide on »Hanau« maker's mark and pseudo marks - already »in the pipe«.

Kind regards silverport

Thank you silverport. Looking at a lot of Hanau silver on the internet, it looks like the GR mark is not compulsory for Georg Roth items, so it seems the probability is higher for him than for Dingeldein? Also because Georg Roth was known for "French-looking" items?

Any thoughts on who the lady might be? Josephine de Beauharnais (looks like Empire dress?), Mme de Pompadour? Haven't seen any other spoons with a full figure as a handle, is that rare?
