Help with mark...crossed swords with number 12

Postby carla21 » Wed Dec 09, 2009 9:11 pm

Hi all,

I need help with this mark....it has crossed swords (?) in a cartouche with the number 12. I have some forks and spoons with this mark, all are on the large side.

Thank you for any/all help, it is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I guess they were made in the first half of the 19th century somewhere in Saxony, Germany, perhaps in Weissenfels.

Without a maker's mark it is difficult to decide where. They are made in 12 lot silver, which is 750/1000 pure silver. The zigzag line is a tremolierstrich made when assaying the item.

I hope this helps.

Best regards/JAKJO

Here is a better image of the marks on the spoons and forks. The shown marks are the only designations, no letters.

Thank you,

Carla
