Spoon from Dresden with uncommonly city mark

Postby R ingo » Thu Oct 29, 2009 1:54 pm

Hello,
here is a spoon from Dresden whith an interesting city mark. The D is here on the upper part of the mark. Usually ther is the 12. This variation of a Dresden city-mark I never saw before. It is also not in Rosenberg.
The makers mark is "CHR". May be it is Christian Heinrich Rossbach.
Can someone help me with the year-letter?

Kind regards,
Ringo

I've recorded this rectangular mark with the "D" on top alongside date letters from 1798 through 1811; the date letter "C" here would be 1800. And I think you're right about Christian Heinrich Rossbach (Master 1795).

Hope this helps!

Hello blakstone,
I thank You very much for Your help.
Hello Theoderich, may be it looks like CMR, but I think it is CHR in cursive.

best wishes,
Ringo

Hello Theoderich,
here a new photo, maybe with better light. The last letter is sure a "R" and not a "K". The second letter can be a "M", but I think it is a "H".

Kind regards,
Ringo
