unknown citymark on a spon, who looks like made in Flensburg

Postby R ingo » Sat Aug 22, 2009 5:16 pm

Hello,
I have a Spoon, who looks like The typical spoons from Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein. But the city-mark is unknown for me. Its not the Flensburg-Tower. I think, the spoon was made in the near of Flensburg in the second half of the 19 century. The makers mark is D.V.B.
Is there someone who knows this mark?

Kind regards,

Ringo

I spoon looks like a danish spoon.
Looks like a man in a boot with a stack in his hands.

Hello Theoderich,
Thank You.
Surely You are right with Danmark, because the marks are not in the Books from B. Zeitzschel and H. Stierling about the Silvermarks in Schleswig-Holstein.
But the type of spoon was not only made in Danmark. These spoons were also popular in Schleswig-Holstein. A lot of these are made in Flensburg. Even the company Spliedt in Itzehoe (Holstein) made such spoons.
However, I think also, that this one is from Danmark.

Kind regards,
Ringo

Hello Theoderich,

Thank you. I also often thought, that it the mark of Heide with St. Jürgen (Georg), who kills the dragon.
If it is the mark of Heide, the makers mark should be in the book from H. Stierling about the Silverwork between Altona and Tondern, but it is not. The mark looks similar, but I am not assured.

best wishes,
Ringo

I have a question.
I wrote the same artile also in the forum for Scandinavian Silver, because the former land Schleswig belongs today to Germany (south- Schleswig) and Danmark (North-Schleswig/ Sønderjyllands Amt today).
I wonder, that my article in the Scandinavian Silver forum was deleted.
Is ther someone, who knows why? Whom I can contact to ask?

Kind regards,
Ringo

From the forum's Posting Requirements
