Please help ID a makers ? mark next to R Kraft mark

Postby machavellli » Fri May 01, 2009 3:06 pm

Hi,

Could anyone please help me identify the mark next to the Robert Kraft makers mark on this cigarette case ?

The mark is in a half moon & looks like Ln ? & the case has an inscription dated 1943.

Many thanks,

Dugi

Hi,

This seems to be the "Laurin" a guarantee mark, introduced in Germany in early 1934 and in use for a few years.

Best regards/JAKJO

I have only seen this Laurin-mark together with Pforzheim makers and a German auction house mentions it as "Pforzheimer Laurin-Gruppe" or translated Laurin-Group in Pforzheim.

Is it only a coincidence or is their some facts about the Pforzheim connection?

Best regards/JAKJO

Hello, the Laurin mark was used nationwide, it often appears on Pforzheim pieces because there were many makers of jewellery and small silverware in that city. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello all and BTW Merry Christmas.

Well i've found this topic researching about a piece of jewellery that i knew was coming from Pforzheim.

I think the mark it has it the "Laurin", but in the forum i can't find any picture for to be sure.

The signature picture of my piece is imposible for me...too small :-(

Thanks in advance.

Hello JAKJO :-)

we were typing at the same time, and this is just the image i found in google.

So, as my bracelet has the same mark i can say that is from Pforzheim, 1934-38, and has a "generic" mark for high standard items regarding quality or design, is this ok?

Thanks again.

Hi,

Yes, that will be correct if you are sure that it is from Pforzheim. Bahner writes that the Laurin mark was used nationwide.

The Pforzheim conection was the only clue i had from the item, told by the seller.

Looking at the style now i know that i have some other pieces from may be the same maker, in this same style, other bracelets, rings and pendants....

Some are 830, 850, and others 925, with and without the Laurin mark, and i love the design :-) but no maker's marks....

One mistery less :-)

Thanks :-)
