Hamburg Maker help

Postby jackk » Sun Jan 25, 2009 2:18 pm

Hi, Any help with this maker's mark? Age? I estimate this sauce boat to be early XIX century.
Thank you all!

The "E" in the city mark is the mark of assayer Johann Heinrich Jacob Wienicke, working 1857-1865. L. Victor (his first name is not known) received a concession as a Goldworker in Hamburg on 23 Jan 1855 and was no longer listed in the Hamburg directory in 1869.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Blakstone. I hoped this piece was 30-40 years younger. Is there a list on the internet of Hamburg asseyers showing the years during which they worked?

There's the beginnings of such a list on this very forum: Hamburg Makers & Assayers.
